Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was named Best International Newcomer at the Sports Journalists’ Association awards held on December 6 in The Pavilion at the Tower of London.
Members of the SJA voted for the 19-year-old midfielder, who made 26 appearances in all competitions last year scoring four goals. Alex was more thrilled to receive the award and had the following words to say.
He said: “It’s a massive honour to win anything at the moment. It’s been a whirlwind year for me – everything’s come quite quickly.
“I’m starting to find now the pressure of professional football at the top level with the highs and lows, and obviously at the moment we’re on a bit of a low, but this is a nice little pick-me-up.
“I love what I do every day, I love playing football and hopefully I’ll continue to that. And obviously if we win some stuff that helps.”
