Ten minutes after kick off saw The Gunners a man down as Koscielny was shown an instant red card after having appeared to have take down Dzeko in the penalty area. As a result the home side conceded a penalty which was in-turn, saved by Szczesny.
However, it did not take MCFC long before they took advantage of Arsenals’ missing link, this was made apparent as City pressed forward allowing Milner to drive an angled shot into the net putting the away side ahead.
Dzeko effectively ended the contest, as City went two goals up after having converted a low cross from Milner into the back of the net. It could have been a hat-trick for the away side, but Wilshere succeeded in efforts to clear the ball off the line.
During the second half, Arsenal showed fighting spirit and were offered the chance to try and salvage what remained of the game as Kompany was shown a red card for a two footed lunge on Wilshere.
The ten-man team made little difference as they [Manchester City] were able to retain their two goal lead and see the game out.
