Wilshere smashed the ball into Michel Vorm’s [Swansea goalkeeper] net with a superb left-footed strike from outside the box in the 86th minute, seeing The Gunners scoring the only goal of the night – enough to win them the game, after a second half consisting of a barrage of attacks from the home side.
Wilshere celebrates his goal
In fairness, Swansea had a good number of chances to take the lead in the first half, but from the point the second half commenced, Arsenals‘ hunger was evident. Theo hit the woodwork and Giroud’s effort was cleared off the line, but Wilshere, though late on arrival, was rewarded thoroughly for the work he had put in.
Arsenal will travel to Championship side, Brighton and Hove Albion to battle out the fourth round toward the end of this month.
